AI Social Listening: Using Reveal AI to Analyze a Viral Reddit Thread!
In our quest for happiness, it's often just as important to understand what makes us unhappy as it is to know what brings us joy. We recently used Reveal AI to analyze responses from Reddit's AskReddit community, which boasts over 47 million members, on the top factors that destroy happiness. With over 7,000 responses to a thread about causes of unhappiness, the data provides a fascinating glimpse into the human psyche.
Using Reveal AI for qualitative data analysis, we identified the top three happiness destroyers:
- Comparison: The number one culprit in sabotaging our happiness is the act of comparing ourselves to others. This includes feelings of envy or jealousy, and the tendency to measure our lives against the carefully curated images we see on social media. The constant exposure to others' highlight reels can significantly impact our self-perception and overall satisfaction with life.
- Relationship Issues: Coming in second are problems related to our interpersonal connections. Toxic relationships, experiences of betrayal, and feelings of loneliness all contribute to diminished happiness. This underscores the crucial role that healthy, supportive relationships play in our overall well-being.
- Expectations: The third major happiness destroyer involves our expectations – both unmet and unrealistic ones. Perfectionism falls into this category, often setting individuals up for disappointment when reality fails to meet their exacting standards.
Reveal AI enabled us to categorize responses into broader themes, allowing for a more granular analysis of specific issues within each category. For instance, responses related to mental health could be examined in detail to uncover nuanced insights into how people perceive and express their struggles.
This demonstrates the power of large-scale qualitative data analysis in understanding social media data at scale. Check us out at Reveal AI to learn how we're enabling you to source audience insights from social media!
